Cake-A-Boo all started as a dare…

Every summer, I visited my grandmother in Parsons, KS—a tiny town with just one grocery store and a Walmart (if you’ve never been, you’d never find it!). I loved those summers because they meant spending time baking and cooking with my Nannie, where my love for creating in the kitchen truly began. I’d always get a thrill out of baking goodies for birthdays and special occasions.

Cake-A-Boo officially started when my 3-year-old nephew asked for a Spider-Man cake. Even though I had no clue where to begin, I couldn’t let him down. My niece doubted me, declaring, “You don’t know how to do that!” Challenge accepted. I stayed up all night researching, baking, and decorating—and absolutely nailed it. The cake was a hit, and I realized I had discovered something special.

What started as a fun hobby quickly grew into a side business while I worked in the mortgage industry for 23 years. For over 15 years, I’ve been creating celebration cakes for any event you can imagine. In 2019, I turned my passion into a full-time dream by opening Cake-A-Boo Bakery in Kansas City.

Now, Cake-A-Boo isn’t just about cakes—it’s about creating experiences. My corporate team-building cake decorating classes are a unique way to bring people together, whether in-person or online. I also offer one-on-one sessions and classes perfect for groups, bridal showers, and other events, letting you make sweet memories while creating edible art.

Best of all, my amazing daughter, Kennedi, helps out when she feels like it (and I wouldn’t have it any other way). She brings just the right amount of sparkle and sass to Cake-A-Boo’s story.

From baking in my grandmother’s kitchen to building Cake-A-Boo into what it is today, I’m excited to continue spreading joy, one slice at a time!
